Northwest Mobile Fees Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing

Instrumental exams are an important component for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in dysphagia assessment and management and an integral part of to create a safe and effective plan of treatment.    SLPs have two options:  A Modified Barium Swallow study (MBS) and FEES.

The MBS is  a procedure completed as an outpatient at an acute care hospital and can be almost 3 times more expensive than FEES.  In addition, availability may be limited due to a number of factors including scheduling constraints which may inhibit progress towards goals within the patient's plan of care.  Review our comparison of MBS and FEES.  The burden on the patient (and cost) of having to travel to a hospital outpatient MBS procedure are eliminated with a prompt, minimally invasive and safe assessment such as FEES to achieving optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.
